We really enjoy celebrating Festivals at St. John's!

CHRISTMAS

Advent and Christmas are always special in a rural village, and we go to town!

Our Advent Family Service often includes a Christingle; we have a Carols by Candlelight at 3pm one Sunday evening; there's a Crib Service at 3pm on Christmas Eve; also on Christmas Eve there will be an early Midnight Mass, starting at 10pm; and Christmas Communion at 9:15am on Christmas Day itself.

Add to that Carol Singing in the Thatchers Arms and a party or two, and we're all guaranteed a happy Christmas!

LENT AND EASTER

Lent Starts on Ash Wednesday, when there'll be a special service of Holy Communion in one of the Churches in our Benefice.

Mothering Sunday is an opportunity for everyone to gather to say 'thank you' to mums everywhere with a gift of a posy of flowers; Palm Sunday includes the gift of a Palm Cross; and Easter Communion is a must for every Christian.

On Good Friday at 2pm there is a service in Little Horkesley Church remembering Jesus' Last Hour at the Cross and we have an Easter Vigil service at 8pm on Holy Saturday in Mount Bures.

FLOWER FESTIVAL

That's on the fourth weekend of June each year - a massive event which includes a Celebration Service at 6pm on Sunday.

HARVEST

Harvest is important to all rural Churches, and we make the most of the occasion. It is usually on the first Sunday of October; we present gifts during our Family Service which are donated to local Charities that serve those who are homeless or in financial need. We also enjoy a Harvest Supper on the Saturday evening, to which all Villagers are invited.

We often find a reason for other celebrations and special services, so please check our Weekly Benefice Bulletin
