our

community

St. John's Mount Bures is a Community Church - we are part of the local community and have been for 800 years! It is a joy to work with residents and other organisations to promote village life. Here are some of those organisations, with links to various websites:

MOUNT BURES PARISH COUNCIL

Meetings usually take place on the second Wednesday of every other month (January, March, May, July, September, November) and commence at 7.30pm at Mount Bures Village Hall, although sometimes times dates and venues vary so please check the website for exact details

MOUNT BURES CONNECTIONS

Mount Bures Connections is our name for a regular weekly Coffee Morning in Mount Bures Village Hall, from 10am to noon every Thursday. Pop in to enjoy a coffee or tea, some cake or a scone, and meet lots of local people for a good chat.

We are also a distribution point for recycling sacks and bags, on behalf of Colchester Borough Council. Just bring your barcode from the website, and they're yours!

MOUNT BURES VILLAGE HALL

Our Village Hall is a registered Charity managed by the community, and is the ideal venue for a party or a group meeting. It has all the amenities you would require, and is warm and welcoming. As well as Mount Bures Connections, the Dog Club meets each week; there's a Yoga group; and the Parish Council meets here each month.

THE THATCHERS ARMS

The Thatchers is the Village pub & restaurant, and is renowned for its excellent ales and a very tasty restaurant menu. It's a good place to hold a celebration of any kind; and hosts Debbie & Stuart often hold special events such as Cinema at the Pub and Theatre at the Pub. Add special seasonal themed evenings at St. Valentine's Day, Mothers' Day, Fathers' Day, Christmas and more, and you'll know that it's always a happy place to spend a lunchtime or evening.
